The first song from The Beach Boys has popped up, “That’s Why God Made The Radio” and it’s the first time they’ve recorded together in fifteen years. Brian Wilson is back in the group this time around and I was really looking forward to hearing the new material from this group.

“That’s Why God Made The Radio” is very typical Beach Boys sound with clean drums and nice horns during the chorus. What makes the song worth it are the vocals. While all these guys have aged, they still sound really great together. Yes, they have aged and it shows in the lyrics. These lines range from cliche to clunky singing about God bringing down music from antennas to car radios.

I fear that when this new Beach Boys album shows up on June 1st, I’m going to hear more of the same.
