CocoRosie’s previous album didn’t exactly appeal to me for some reason, but their new song might change my mind. “We Are On Fire” still has plenty of weirdness to it (they look really crazy too), with the lead vocalist still not doing too much to draw me into the song. But the song does succeed with the production, which is all thanks to David Siteck of TV on The Radio.
There’s a flourish of instruments that swirl around the song with woodwinds starting out the song and then bringing in techno elements. The song is simple with it’s structure and while it does sound like something I’ve already heard, the production is so strong that I have to admire it.
“We Are On Fire” will be released as single with “Tearz For Animals” as it’s b-side with Antony Hegarty featured on vocals. It’s set for a June 4th release on Touch and Go.
