Kid Cudi- “Just What I Am” TRACK REVIEW

A few years ago when Kid Cudi released Man on The Moon II, I said that I really liked it and found to be an enjoyable rap album. What was I thinking? Kid Cudi raps about weed over and over, and Man on The Moon II got boring after a few listens (it’s way too long). Then Kid Cudi put out a rock album that I knew to stay away from (still haven’t listened to it).

I was mildly excited when I saw this new track pop up, thinking that it might be a song from Man on The Moon III. Despite the blandness of Kid Cudi’s songs, I’m still interested enough to check out the end of this trilogy.

It looks I’m just going to have to wait for Cudi to wrap up his trilogy because his next album is called indicud (damn stupid album title) and the first song has shown up called “Just What I Am”. Filled with a hilarious chorus with a booming voice in monotone going “I NEED SMOKE” and then Cudi pleading that “I need to get higher”. Please.

There’s some crappy self-loathing verses that you’ve heard over and over, and there’s some guest rapper that I’ve never heard of during the second verse.

Kid Cudi might have been a decent artist at one point, but “Just What I Am” is such a toss out song that I hope it doesn’t appear on any album. While I wish I could be glad that Kid Cudi realizes who he his, I’m not. Kid Cudi likes weed and doesn’t think he’s good enough to have all this shit.

Rating: 1 out of 10.

New Kid Cudi track and video

Kid Cudi has put out a new song from his “rock” project. The band is called 2 Be Continuum. Despite the horrible band name, the track “Perfect Is The World” is alright. It’s the usual cool, laid-back style that Kid Cudi did so damn well on last year’s Man on The Moon II: Legend of Mr. Rager. Not sure where this track is going to officially show up, on a separate album by 2 Be Continuum, or on a mixtape called A Man Named Scott due to drop at sometime during the summer.

Also there’s a new video for the track “Marijuana”, directed by Shia LaBeouf.
